Business: Yes, Dear. Studio
Interview and Writing: Business Owner Melanie Michaud of Graffiti Beach Boutique

I had the pleasure of meeting South Park locals, Aubrey Ann Westlund and Phillip Brian Westlund of Yes, Dear. Studio first as customers at my store and then again when they came to take photos at one of our events this year. Their photography style and unique perspective was very impressive, so much so, we asked them to photograph locations throughout our community. The result? Amazing snapshots of South Park that now grace the homepage of our website...and more to come in the future months! I sat down to chat with this fabulous duo so our readers could learn more about this local creative team that makes up Yes, Dear. Studio.
Aubrey Westlund: We started as an invitation/custom design shop on Etsy and then we found our passion for photography and began shooting weddings, portraiture, and more expressive lifestyle shoots. Now we focus primarily on photography but still offer some items on Etsy - yesdesarstudio. We do both custom work and pre-made designs in our shop. Our popular items are custom made vinyl record invitations and romantic library book style invitation sets.
AW: It took me a lot of time to think of something that Phillip liked. It has a lot to do with us working together as a married couple and has some humor to it which we are all about. We're trying to be ourselves and show people that even though we take a lot of pride in our work we can be relaxed and want to make people comfortable.
AW: We both grew up in different towns in Idaho and met in Nampa, Idaho while studying graphic design and Art in College. We shared a creative office together before ever pursuing a relationship so working together as a couple is something that just made sense.
AW: This is our full time gig! When we moved to San Diego 1 1/2 years ago we said we'd put everything into growing our business and we'd go out and find jobs if our savings ran out, but it never did! We've been able to make a living off of doing what we love and we couldn't be more thankful. It is truly an opportunity for us to give our time and our lives to a craft and we strive to produce the best work possible.
AW: We are a husband and wife team and we love what we do. There is no formula to our work, we are artists before business people and we take pride in creating artistic work for couples that is timeless and original. We love to take on the character of the individual(s) we are photographing in order to capture authentic and beautiful moments, both photojournalistic and strategically planned.
AW: We really hope to continue photographing weddings, people, and the world around us. Our goal is to continually learn how to push photography in a beautiful direction and provide not only an outstanding product but a memory for our clients and friends.
